I sense something silly - is it growing from my head?
I knew that it was waiting, soon as I climbed out of bed.
It's not a hat, or hunk of hair,
but just a thought that took root there
and wanted to be captured on a page,
despite my somewhat sober writing age.
I think it is a giggle, that's decided 'Now's the time!'
I can feel it start to wriggle, like washing on a line
that's pegged but longs to travel
(risking falling in the gravel)
for it wants to see what life is like below...
(It's all about the viewpoint, don'tcha know?)
Now it's off and flying free - Look out! There it goes!
It only just missed hitting you on your rosy nose-
and no one would be laughing
at such abysmal timing...
I hope it takes a new, far distant road
before it lets its giggle-bomb explode...
Oh beware! It's on the loose dear reader, have a care!
It may descend upon you. Before you know it's there
it will titillate your funny bone,
despite your being all alone,
and seeds of laughter may sail through the air
to plant themselves in people everywhere!
Thanks go to this blog for its inspiration.
And apologies for using the title before- you can see how laughing has me in its spell!
Dear Jinsky! What a treat to see you ... that wonderful brand of poetry you seemingly effortlessly gift us! Cheers.
ReplyDeleteHehehe - some may say its a curse, rather than a gift, but there's no way I can stop it appearing from time to time. It will out!
DeleteAnd to see who else may be thinking of a good giggle or a good cry (both hover close together in my world) you might find more of the same if you visit HERE
ReplyDeleteCrying with laughter is not an oxymoron, it's a fact.
ReplyDeleteGuess I've known that from birth, lol :-)
DeleteUnfailingly inventive, J.
ReplyDeleteOch aye! :-)
DeleteI love the idea of a giggle out and about and possibly hitting some rosy nose along the way. This is a delightfully creative piece of writing.
ReplyDeleteGlad you approve! Thanks ♥
DeleteThis was such a delight to read--the imagery, the rhythm, the inviting mood. It left me grinning. Thanks for that!
ReplyDeleteI'll try to keep your face grinning - though whether you consider that
Deletea promise or a threat may remain to be seen. (Now I'm grinning in return) ♥x
Girls giggle, some grow out of it. The boys mostly snicker.
ReplyDeleteTwo or more is all is all that's needed. No apparent reason.
..
My giggler is firmly rooted to this day... :-)
Deleteoh loved it Such a fun poem. Loved how the giggle longs to travel. Great images. Reminds me of the giggles we had in class when young Than my friend and I couldn't stop laughing and in no time the whole class laughed and we were being send to the principal
ReplyDeleteLaughter is always infectious, eh?
DeleteSomething silly growing from your head? LOL....Just a tad insane methinks.....exactly the way I like it. Rall
ReplyDeleteInsanity Rules OK. :-)
DeleteI wouldn't mind getting a whack of that if it brought a poem with it!
ReplyDeleteCome closer, and I'll whack you a share at once! ♥
Delete(whisker) I just saw your link at P&SU and stopped by...haven't thought of a poem to post there yet, though.
ReplyDeleteI'll keep my eyes open for when you don your Postman's Hat and join in with laughter - or tears, if your Muse is sad. :-)
DeleteThis is delightful , looking forward to more ...that can tickle my bones ;)
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile, Jossina, because it put me in mind of a couple more sayings - "A little of what you fancy does you good" and "Well, tickle my fancy!" - the kind of admonishment one might have found in a Victorian Variety Show. ♥x
DeleteThis is enchanting and infectious. Good to see you here, Jinsky!
ReplyDeleteDitto, ditto, Blogpal of old. ♥
