Adrift in dreams, imagination whirls
and lilac angels' wings fly close at hand.
The flower scented air begins to swirl
and lulls us further. We can understand
concepts which, in daytime, make no sense.
For night time loosens bonds of black or white,
sends technicolour shades in recompense
to meld all boundaries of wrong, or right.

When waters of emotion lap the shores
of self expression, artists utilise
that wave-swell of power, of creation;
they may focus on their craft without pause.
Visions refreshed in Dream Time are allies
in the fight to free imagination.

So true that the imagination can become closed in by daylight's complexity of views but released by the night with its black and white.
ReplyDeleteI think it's the technicolour shades of Dream Time that imagination craves...Perhaps my words have not been as clear as I intended? Only shows the fascination words have for the smitten wordsmiths among us. lol :-)
DeleteMagical. I like the lilac night time. And the water lapping the shore is hypnotic.
ReplyDeleteIt's the rhythm of the words that hypnotises , methinks - thank you for noticing it :-)
DeleteEverything is so much simpler in dreams.
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky! I sometimes have dreams with truly difficult sequences - like when I'm trying to fly, but can't get off the ground. Hehehe - guess it must be 'cause I'm an old bird now?!
DeleteAccomplished as always, Jinksy. A pleasure to read.
ReplyDeleteThank you, kind sir. We aim to please. :-)
DeleteOh I have some seriously wild dreams where the laws of physics does not dare to tread! Though even some of the stranger ones have been illuminating in their own way. And any self-knowledge I gain can help me become better at my craft.
ReplyDeleteHow true - dreams can certainly help our self-awareness, if we give them a chance. :-)
DeleteWhat lovely musings you share with us, Jinksy. I especially enjoyed these lines:
ReplyDelete"...We can understand
concepts which, in daytime, make no sense.
For night time loosens bonds of black or white"
:-)
Musings, I admit, are one of my favourite hobbies. Thanks for coming to share in some today
DeleteI too have found this true "For night time loosens bonds of black or white,
ReplyDeletesends technicolour shades"
I don't know why I have problems clicking 'reply' instead of 'comment', Debi... am I losing the plot? LOL ♥
DeleteSpot on - you got me meaning to a 'T', as the saying goes. :-) Thanks for stopping by to read. :-)
DeleteLovely thoughts in lovely words! (You make me want to try rhyming again.)
ReplyDeleteOoer - who Knew rhyming could be more catching than Covid? LOL
DeleteIt certainly got into my blood at a very early age, and has been stuck fast ever since. Hope you have fun with more of the same. ♥
I miss that prompting smell of the spring flowers. COVID-19 did away with my sense of smell, except for morning brewing coffee.
ReplyDelete..
Perhaps your sense of smell may return in time? I hope so, anyway. But till then, I say 'smell with the nose that lives in your imagination' - which is what I've learnt to do! lol
DeleteI so agree with you - the importance of dreams as fuel to the imagination. Regards Scott Hastie
ReplyDeleteYour name on the P&SU Linky List, Scott, takes me to a 'not secure' site that has no writerly offering from your good self. If you need any help to sort this, do email me, and I'll help all I can.
DeleteThese are some incredible images! Wow - dreamy goodness.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed my daytime-playtime with 'pics, prose or poem' - a winning combination, perhaps... :-)
DeleteAngels' wings would smell of lilacs! Lovely choice.
ReplyDeleteI've just had a thought...Perhaps it should be white lilac, rather than the lavender colour? :-)
DeleteLuckily, both share the same scent, anyway!
I liked it.Time are allies
ReplyDelete(In the fight to free imagination), beautiful.
Thank you ♥ Having an imagination, and using it, are not always the same thing, but it cannot be bought or sold at any price, that's for sure! :-)
