Nobody Wants Me
Nobody wants me - not jus' now -
ev'ry one's busy to-day somehow;
Daddy is writing, Mother is out,
Emily Jane isn't nowhere about.
Toby is sleeping on the mat,
an' Jane keeps tellin' me 'Dont do that!'
She's scrubbin' the sink an' the saucepan shelf.
Nobody wants me - asceptin' myself.
But wanting yourself is the most important thing! Some people long to get out of their own way!
ReplyDeleteThis poet is new to me, thanks for the introduction.
ReplyDeleteThat's life, I guess - it's the way the cookie often crumbles... or seems to.
ReplyDeletehi jinksy - i'm sure there are days during the school season when my kids feel that way!!!! steven
ReplyDeleteI looked up Marion St. John Webb...seems she had a heart for children.
ReplyDeleteA great poem.....a wonderful poet...even up until the time she died.
Thank you for sharing this one today, jinksy.
Smiles to you from jackie
Ah, but only if you don't want yourself, thén you have a problem.
ReplyDeleteAh, another good one. Thanks, Jinksy, for sharing.
ReplyDeleteShe/He needs a gramma! Such large feelings expressed in such few words...loved it!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of a childhood chant: nobody loves me, everybody hates me, I'm goin' to the garden and eat worms; great big fat ones, little bitty black ones, gee, how they wiggle and squirm.... something like that.
ReplyDeleteAs long as you love yourself then everything is OK!

Hello Jinksy,
ReplyDeleteYou can be sure we all want you! These last three verses are fun and shine a light onto those 'good old days'. You ought to have a go at writing one for the Royal Mail of today!
Nobody wants me - not jus' now -
ReplyDeleteThe last 3 words are comforting though..it's only that moment nobody wanted me. Later on, they all did.
Love the poetry!
Always someone out there for someone. Lovely words.
ReplyDeleteCJ xx
We all have days like that Jinksy.
ReplyDeleteI feel like that some days!
ReplyDeleteI guess we all felt this way at one time or another, in our child-hoods. I know I did. Touching work, Jinksy...
ReplyDeleteSuch a neat poem! Very true to life ~ for all of us at one time or another.
ReplyDeleteHow did you read my daughter's mind? This is her constant refrain when everyone's busy.
ReplyDeleteThat's what i proudly call a "Poor Me" day! They are good for the soul, as long as they don't last too long!
ReplyDeleteLove this, now if we all would share our time and love with every child no one would ever feel unwanted.....beautiful jinksy....:-)Hugs
ReplyDeletethis is beautiful writing!
ReplyDeletepeace~
