I've noticed, many people who forward emails, do so by using a whole string of names and addresses in the 'To" slot, which is just asking for trouble, as my knowledgeable, techy son explained to me when I first began blogging and emailing.
It only needs ONE of those people to be blessed with a computer virus, and it will spread to everyone else on that list, with the speed of light!
The simple expedient of sending mail 'BCC' (blind carbon copy), prevents this annoying possibility.Think on fellow bloggers...
Well done for mentioning this, Jinsky, not everyone knows this, including myself until quite recently. I always deleted the fw list of who else the mail was sent on to, with me, but had no idea what the BCC function was for (only finding out from a VERY cross person I'd innocently included on my list of forward contacts)..

ReplyDeleteYes, I get really annoyed at email senders who forget this ... that's after I've had a sneaky look at the list, of course ...
ReplyDeleteI have a "friend" who continues to send me forward e-mails...with all the addresses showing...and I know that this same person probably includes mine with forwards to other people. I have asked this person repeatedly NOT to do that...and I don't think the person I'm referring to is "forgetting"....I just think the person is lazy! (Makes me growl, though....really does!!)
ReplyDeleteI love this way of saying it, and I will share it, but alas, the person that I am referring to just doesn't "Get it." (Sigh and groans...) What does one have to do to convince people that you don't want your e-mail address in a bunch of spam and forwarded mail??

ReplyDeleteYes, it is why I try not to forward, or reply to a long list of names. I rarely read the forwarded stuff as it has already been cycled through once. However some one recently compromised an webmail account and sent 200+ embarassing e-mails to my address book. Fortunately about half of the addresses were bad as I had had the account 10 years. I have since closed it after removing some saved materials. In the process a debit card and several passwords were stolen. I have also corrected that. Web mail is more susceptible to hacking as their security is not as strong as that of the Internet Service Provider.

Yesssss! I asked a friend to do this... well, an acquaintance really... and she must have taken offense, because I never heard from her again.
