Winchester Cathedral - Flooded crypt with statue.
As I wandered through some of my photo files I found this hauntingly beautiful picture that my No. 1 Son took a year or two back, after melting snow had caused an unusual problem. It speaks for itself.
See more photographic delights on Sepia Saturday, thanks to Alan and Kat.
That's one of my favourite images of Winchester Cathedral! I have a postcard which is almost identical. I tried to buy more to send to people and they had "improved" it with a railing in front. A shame, I thought.
ReplyDeleteAs for Sheila, one of mine too. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteQuite beautiful! I haven't seen anything like this before. It is serene.
ReplyDeleteI think I probably prefer it flooded. Anyway, now I'm humming that Winchester Cathedral song. It may be hard to stop.

Absolutely beautiful Pen - thus the old saying it's an ill flood that does nobody any good.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo and superb arches. Must get to see this sometime.
ReplyDeleteWOW what a magnificant photo although the beauty is betrayed by the damage that probably had to be repaired or cleaned.
ReplyDeleteTerrific photograph--good spotting by No. 1 son, too!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fascinating shot!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Love the cryptic bit too!

That reflection almost gives it the feeling of a double exposure - a wonderful image.
ReplyDeleteNice shot. It looks kind of ghostly.
ReplyDeleteThat's a unique photo I think Pen. Makes the walkway look like it is highly polished - Dave
