I've Had An Attack Of The Borrowers!

If you've never read the book by Mary Norton, you'll wonder what on Earth I'm talking about... But if you have, you'll understand how puzzled I am that my Borrowers have purloined the tiny, USB cable that allows me to load my camera's photo's onto my computer.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that Arrietty or Pod have  decided to become Bloggers, and set themselves up with a micro computer that needed my USB, which since Monday, has totally disappeared from the Aladdin's Cave I laughingly call My Desk.

Until a hastily purchased replacement arrives, Napple Notes are liable to remain unillustrated... Unless I pinch yet another picture from my long suffering Bro's collection? What a good idea! No sooner said than done. Thanks, Bro! This was taken during a boating holiday on the Norfolk Broads in 1973... Happy Days!

And it's the perfect opportunity to link another non-sepia photo to Sepia Saturday as well. Thanks Alan and Kat!

  1. Oh Jinksy - Norfolk Broads in 1973 - I reckon we were on at about that time too. Wonderful hols - we wet twice, both times at Easter when the Broads were not so crowded. Wonderful wildlife. Thanks for the memories.

  2. I like to go to that part of the country often too. It is my favourite area so far. The picture makes me want to go there now! I haven't read 'The Borrowers' but I know about it. Maybe I'll read it to Dylan when he's a bit older.
I'm sure that USB cable is in the place you left it (LOL). Keep looking.... of course, we all know it will be in the last place you look!

  3. Just for the record, things are always in the last place you look because when you find them, you stop looking!

  4. Sounds like you have this solved already, but in case you ever need to know, you can buy a USB card reader. Then you take your card out of the camera and put it in the reader.

  5. I think I must have a famly of them living here too - always pinching things I know I have left just here; sometimes they return the items but not to the exact spot I left them in. Tsk!

I have decided to splash out and buy myself a proper scanner so that I can start posting more interesting stuff!

  7. My favourite book when I was small and I always tried to leave useful things "lying around" . But I'm not sure a USB cable would have occurred to me . I thought more along the lines of a digestive biscuit and some tiny beads . You've thoroughly spoilt yours !

  8. This is exceptionally lovely and in our 90+ weather it beckons.

  9. That doesn't look like Groningen at all! (Just a silly joke. It does. Stylish boat.)

Borrowers are all nicely tucked up for the night in various coloured socks, don't you think? And the computer they have isn't tiny. It's lifesize. And they jump from key to key. A writing work-out. I hope you find your USB cable.
Isn't there a Saint for lost property? Forgot his name. I'm sure you can ask him, or it would make more sense if it is a her actually, for help ;-)

  12. I like this almost sepia photo. What I’d like more would be to take a little trip on the river in that boat.

  13. I liked that photo too Pen. Did anyone you know own the boat? I like boats - Dave

  14. Dear Pen,
I know the Borrowers, a few relatives came over and are staying here - the parkett-floor is well liked by them... Mine do specialise into theft of intellectual property now: stealing comments on blogs, quite often. I wish you a beautiful week-end! Britta

  15. Your title frightened me - did you know that library staff call their customers 'the borrowers'? Made me a bit scared to go to work tomorrow! ;-)

  16. J . . It's in your Happy Place along with the BIC pens, latch keys and smallest screwdriver. So stop looking for the cable. Look for the Happy Place! Schhimples.

  18. i call them 'the night travellers', those that go around and do mischief around the house and cause confusion in the mind and bring chaos to the trembling and irate fingers, who cannot find that which was there but minute ago...

  20. Geez Blogger is playing tricks on me again. On my blog list they show this as your latest post June 10, yet if I enter my own blog a different way there is a different blog about your Uncle Nunce, a very interesting Uncle. My favorite uncle sold shoes. Your borrowers should return the cables even if they did not take the camera!!! Now I am going to copy this and e-mail it to you to let you know I am still around with brand new eyes and my heart for the moment peaceful...just in case I cannot post this.
