...Maybe because last Saturday, I time warped back to when I first started this blog, and was overwhelmed by seeing again the delightful people who'd faithfully popped by, day after day, to make encouraging noises to me, a hesitant beginner.
There were no Happy Snappy photos of mine, or anybody else's, and those who visited were content with word pictures I managed to paint in their heads.
Posts became more like conversations starting up, as those who commented often returned more than once to 'talk' to each other via my comment box - if you see what I mean?
I guess nostalgia got to me, and I've decided to see whether some of that magic can still be tapped into, after the inroads on Bloggy communication made by Twitter and Facebook, which appear to me closer to the world of advertising hype, than writerly whimsy.
The proof of this pudding will be in the daily eating thereof. On my own head be it. Which tempts me to leave you a link back to yesterday, in case you missed that post...
I have to admit I've been getting concerned about the lack of conversation going on in blogs these days. I wondered whether it was because I was following too many people. I didn't have time to comment as much as I'd like. Maybe others are the same.
ReplyDeleteI hope this little contribution helps with your revival campaign!
What a lovely word, ‘revival’ – exactly what the true spirit of blogging needs. If only others, like you and I, allowed their email address to take the place of that awful noreply-comment at blogger.com, so that all mail can plop into inboxes when we ask it to, communication would be SO much easier, for we can reply straight away with no further trip back to a blogpost.
DeleteNice to see you!
I agree with MAJ that there is a serious lack of chatting in the blogosphere these days. I seem to do more in FaceBook which is silly seeing that I mostly hate FaceBook! But it's easy and I suppose that's what the draw is. Plus a few friends who will only communicate through FB.
ReplyDeleteFacebook is not for me - I had one quick look, and fled in horror! But you might find more Bloggers would talk to you, if you allowed your email address to appear when you leave a comment, as I explained above. That makes it easy for people to start up person to person 'chat' the easy way, thanks to Blogger options.
DeleteI was surprised to read your comments on my posts, but welcome back. You are the second returnee that I have come across this morning. congratulations on the hat in the post below.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope we've started a 'come back' for bloggers everywhere! LOL :-)
DeleteI am only on Blogger today because I have felt so badly for not reading blogs much anymore. Like the above comments, I spend most of my time on Facebook lately. I wondered if blogging has gone by the wayside? That would be sad but I'm part of that reason.
ReplyDeleteAny reason or no reason for dropping by is OK by me. :-)
DeleteWhoops, I am guilty of everything.... lack of time being my excuse. Note to self: must do better. As for Facebook etc, even though most of my family ae on there I don't like it. It's not the kind of social networking that appeals, it's too invasive for my liking. Mind you I do send the odd link to MY stuff to spread the word.
DeleteHoping you are keeping well, Kinksy.
I'm pretending I didn't see you change JInksy to Kinksy?! Hehehe!
DeleteBlogging is still alive and kicking in my world. It just livened up a bit more to see you back on the list. Yay!
ReplyDeleteBless! My alive and kicking has been going on - but behind the scenes. I've turned into a one man factory for crochet items- the latest being a lacy bedspread which took 120 motifs to complete...unless I'd found a way to type with my toes, Blogging had to take a back seat. It's good to be back!
