Never Too Late To Learn Something New

Even on the last day of the year, it's possible to accumulate information about another poetic form - This one is apparently called a Shadorma, consisting of six lines with the syllable count of 3/5/3/3/7/5.
Apologies to the Blogger whose name I've now forgotten, (but remembered again- Hedgewitch) even though I noted the Shadorma name and numbers. Blame it on my advancing years! Hehehe!

Here it goes!
Two Thousand and Ten;
Eleven
is coming,
eager to push Time into

another decade.

May 2011 be a great year for all Bloglanders!

  4. Fun to find a new form--and just in time for the New Year, to boot! I surfed around a bit to see if perhaps Marianne Moore had written one, as she was fond of those syllabics, but came up dry. Would be interested to know if you spot examples by known poets anywhere (aside from our own fine wordsmith, jinksy, of course!)

  6. Nearly there! You have only a few hours remaining to clear the Holly Leaves of Fate from the Underpants of Despair before the Goat of Mendes butts you into a Happy New Year.

  9. My first shadorma:

    Fast away
    The old year passes;
    Don't worry,
    Be happy!
    Merrily we roll along,
    Ye lads and lasses.

  10. Now we have to debate when decades and centuries for that matter really begin. No, we don't really. HNY.
