Postman's Knock

When I ordered a new kitchen bin yesterday from an office supplies website, I thought it strange - but not half as strange as the HUGE boxes delivered to my door a few minutes ago. Look at them!
And look what touching the cardboard did to my hand... The right one is just as red an itchy, but it had to hold the camera.
Silly me for not remembering how corrugated cardboard brings me out in a rash...
But what a magnificent yellow bin I now have!

  1. You couldn't have bin too happy about that rash.

  2. How long with it last, Jinksy? ( Not the BIN, dear, the RASH!)

  3. AC! How could you?! But you're right...

Dr FTSE - I've slathered cream all over it, and swallowed an antihistamine tablet, so the itch is getting better, but I think it will be some time before the red reverts to pink... And I still have to cut the cardboard up to go in the wheelie bin. I might wear rubber gloves...

  5. Years ago, almost the same thing would happen to me on grocery shopping days... the brown paper bags would cause a crazy itch on my palms, but now I have reusable bags!

  6. Does that thing glow in the dark too?

I get like that ig I forget to put gloves on when I'm gardening - hope it clears up soon.

  7. Ech! Some of the things that stuff is packed in! My personal pet peeve is the styrofoam packing "peanuts". What are you supposed to do with them once you unpack whatever it is you received? I suppose you could hold onto them and use them sometime when you ship something yourself, but that's not likely to use all them you receive (at least, not for me) so I usually end up filling my trash with them, then they go to a landfill or something... half the space in some landfills must be taken up by useless rubbish such as that!

  8. modern life - and packaging - has its hazards. Remember the gloves next time.

PS: did you actually choose the colour? Do you have trouble finding your kitchen?

  9. Friko, dearest! It's a beautiful sunshine yellow! And the alternative primary colours were red, green or blue. Addis plastics have gone bananas, and at least my bin has an excuse for looking like one - sort of- if you squint at it through half closed eyes, to tone the colour down a little... LOL !

  11. I have never before heard of anyone being allergic to corrugated cardboard Jinksy - so at least you are in a class of your own. The bin looks lovely though.

  12. Lovely bin. Horrid rash.
My bunnies eat cardboard boxes....... Goodness only knows what state their tummies must be in.

Hope the rash goes quickly. I wonder if it is something to do with the glue that is used to stick it together (the corrugated paper)

  19. Aargh! I've started to itch in sympathy .
That box , along with all other recycled cardboard and low grade paper will be repulped and used to make things like egg cartons and cereal packets . I hope you don't meet it again !
