Crest Of A Wave?

Not quite! My Dad often drew crests of a different kind, when he was on board ship. I always liked this one, because of the garlanded animal... The caption reads 'Royal Warwickshire', and below the signature it says 'Fowey' - one of the ship's Dad served on.


It's another offering for Sepia Saturday, taken from my Pa's Autograph Album.

LATE EDITION EXTRA !  I've found this cap badge for The Royal Warwickshire Regiment,  thanks to Google , which could be purchased for the princely sum of £7.50 ! There's lots of information available if anyone wants to know more about the regiment.

    This is great. The drawings your dad left you are so endearing, and even better that he signed each one and told which ship he was on when he did the drawing. The next generations in your family will have this treasure he passed on forever.

    There were some very talented people out there on ships. As a fan of Antiques Roadshow I am amazed at the things sailors and other servicemen have created while away from home using the most basic items.
    Hope you are keeping your 'talents' on record for future generations to see?

    I think the HQ of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment is just down the road from me in a museum. Or it used to be anyway.

    My son lives at Fowey. The Ship Inn is a favourite haunt.
    Daphne du Maurier lived there with her husband Sir Frederick Browning the general who coined the phrase 'A Bridge Too Far.'

    Fowey is a lovely place.Cornwall is my favourite, I think.

    Your Dad was born in Birmingham which is in Warwickshire and that is probably why he chose this crest, don't you think?
