Am I the only one who finds annoying the rapidly changing succession of ludicrous attempts at portraying the letters G O O G L E in ever contorted forms?
With the number of idiosyncratic happenings so many of us find in and around Google Blogger, would their technical people not be better employed ironing out some of these glitches, rather that playing games with their heading, ad nauseam?
Grouch, moan, groan, grumble... Who agrees with me?
jinksy - i'm grateful to have unlimited access to a free tool that allows me to express myself. do i wish that it was always entirely smooth and glitch free - well of course!

But they could have their own blog, and be as creative as they like. Google home page is surely meant to be, first and foremost, easy to read - which it often isn't...

ReplyDeleteActually, I had no idea that was meant to spell Google - really? Guess I need to sharpen my imagination some, 'cos no matter how hard I try, I can't for the life of me see any letters, never mind a word up there!
That's exactly my point, Shrinky! Reading needs letters, not hieroglyphs!! LOL
ReplyDeleteI use google so often, and never need to read the banner 'google', so in my mundane day (i use google a lot at work), I find a little humor and whimsy to their creative banners. Although the one above, no idea how that spells google but whatevs. ;)
ReplyDeleteIf you select "your own" background picture, the Google hieroglyphs don't appear. Like Shrinky, I didn't realise that today's pictures spelt Google. Remember that the peculiar letters link readers to a topical subject/anniversary/historic event etc.
ReplyDeleteBut there is never a link or reference to explain some of their most obscure offerings, Doc. Like today's Old Roman!! It was a fluke that I saw mention of him on Google when I tried to copy the illustration. I hardly think his existence ranked as common knowledge...

ReplyDeleteCan't agree with you on this one, Jinksy. I love the creativity shown with these special event headers. To see the word Google in it.. just squint. ;) <--- like that but with both eyes. With these special Googles, all you need to do is click on it and it will take you to the page which explains it all.

But I'd stil rather Google stuck to its simple name, and played games elsewhere. I wonder if it boils down to introvert/extrivert tendencies? I'd rather my own mind produced the frills and flounces, you see, rather than having them thrust upon me, introvert that I am!

Hmmmm! I clicked on the strange-looking Google hieroglyphics in your post and was immediately informed by my virus software that it was an "unsafe" web site. Google ???

We have gray skies here today and rain. Most of the snow is gone and now we have plenty of slush. Too cold to set up a snow cone stand! Ha.
The thunder and lightning all night last night woke me a few times, but it was the first night of broken sleep in a long time now.
Boy, did I ever get off topic. For me, I don't much care what the heading is and I do get the info I seek and things run smoothly on my computer.

It is like a Maze. what will I have to manuever through this time to post.
I do notice these but I like them. I just move on to what I went there for and forget it. That is, as long as things come up the way I want. LOL.

i like them when i understand what they're in aid of, but they're becoming more and more frequent and i have no clue what they're about... and i couldn't be bothered to try and find out because when an ad/promotion/whatever is unclear, it is obviously not good?!?!

I find some of them annoying. There are some that are nice and colorful. I do wonder why they feel they have to do that though.

ReplyDeleteActually, I quite enjoy the quirky googles. I guess they appeal to something eccentric in my personality. I didn't realize that you could click on them, though and now I'm off to do just that.
