Blast From The Past
Thanks to my Bro again, for supplying me with yet another picture to use for Sepia Saturday in colour! The year was 1976, and Mum and Dad had gone out to New Zealand for a visit. Wouldn't mind a water feature like that outside my door, would you?
If it carries on raining this hard every day , we might all have water features like this inside our front doors , too ! Your parents look as though they loved their trip . Family , sun and wonderful countryside in a bumper package .
This was just a little river in the bush when we went for a walk in Auckland. Not contrived in any way just natural beauty. We picnicked on a rock in the middle of the stream.
Wonderful photo. The scenery looks so very familiar to me but that's because I am a NZer. I can see a nikau young behind your Dad.I have just returned from a walk in bush a bit like that. It's funny as I was in the UK in 1976, a very hot summer.
For whatever reason - it might be the colour, it might be the composition, it might be the lush vegetation - it is such a happy picture. Sums up what good holidays are all about.
Now that looks very, very familiar. Even though it's taken near Auckland, it could be just about anywhere in New Zealand. We are lucky to have such spots 5 minutes from our house. Bring on summer ... quickly please.
Oh yes, it would be so nice to have a little stream, a tropical stream. This photo makes me think of the hikes in my childhood to waterfalls in Hawaii. Once at the falls we'd sit on rocks and have a picnic. Good times. Good times.
Curiosity Cats can leave a whisker here...but not before noting, please, that I choose to have an award free, tag free, meme free blog. But by all means, talk to me by email - I love to 'chat'...
Ah, the year of the heatwave. Looks as though your parents are getting their fair share of sunshine too.

Nice to have relaxed shots of the parents!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm humming a Stan Rogers tune -- Barrett's Privateers -- even though that was 1876.
ReplyDeletethey look so fit and happy
ReplyDeleteand it's such a beautiful setting
Great pic of the parents Jinksy- they both look like they are enjoying the day!
ReplyDeleteI would love to have any sort of water outside my door!! Except a swamp or flood.
ReplyDeleteThat looks so cool and inviting but unfortunately would cover the whole of our garden and then some.
ReplyDeleteQuite adventurous for 1976 I think Pen.
ReplyDeleteA water feature to envy with some interesting foliage. No wonder they look so relaxed.

O.k., now I'm curious. Is Mutti your sister? Did she take the picture?
ReplyDeleteLooks so inviting. I would love having that in my back yard.

ReplyDeleteIt's green and lush. No dinosaurs lurking behind the trees, I hope! I can see it as a setting for Lord of the Rings.
ReplyDeleteI can hear the babbling of the brook.
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful pose and photo. At first I thought, a scene from the Hepburn movie, "On Golden Pond" but there were no palm fronds in that.
